Description

The headstock veneer is often used to enhance the appearance of the guitar. It can add an extra layer of visual interest, such as a decorative pattern or exotic wood grain. The veneer can also help to create a consistent look between the headstock and the rest of the guitar, especially if the headstock is made of a different material than the body of the guitar.

The headstock veneer can also provide an extra layer of protection for the guitar. The headstock is a vulnerable area that is prone to damage, especially from bumps or accidental impacts. The veneer can help to protect the headstock from scratches, dings, and other types of damage. Additionally, the veneer can provide extra stability and strength to the headstock, which is important for maintaining the tuning stability of the guitar.

David from Australian Guitar Timbers mills all his logs, which sit in strip and air dry for at least two years before being cut into blocks. The timber is placed in a Solar or Electric Kiln and dried further to between 8 and 10 percent moisture content. Nearly all of David’s logs are sourced locally here in Queensland except for the Tasmanian Timbers. Rather than trees being sent to be chipped they are saved and collected to be repurposed. Australian Guitar Timbers sustainably collect wood and love that they can convert the timber into a much-loved instrument part.
